Exhibit

Our department showed off some of the student`s work last week in the Tresillian building. Thursday evening was the opening night of the Truro 3 Arts concert season and the evenings buffet was surrounded by our student`s artwork.

Life Drawing Cardboard Modelling

Students from the life drawing study plus group created these 3D cardboard sculputres this week. Created from card they are an unusual, creative and effective representation of the human form.

AS Fine Art Yr1: Renaissance Drawing Techniques

The AS Fine Art students have been experimenting with Renaissance drawing techniques. They have been exploring the use of Durers draughtsmans net and Leonardo da Vinci`s tracing through the veil to create measured line drawings of 3D objects with some excellent results as shown.

I’d like to draw you attention to a forthcoming Graham Sutherland Study weekend on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th October.

With talks by renowned art historians and Sutherland experts such as Sally Moss (curator of the current exhibition at Penlee House Gallery & Museum), Professor Paul Gough of the UWE and Dr Tehmina Goskar on Saturday 26th , plus an exclusive tour of the exhibition on Sunday 27th, this is a must for anyone who loves Graham Sutherland’s work and is interested in finding out more about his time as an official War Artist working at Geevor Mine.

The cost is £35 adult / £25 for concessions, which includes a full day of talks and lunch of the Saturday, plus a visit to Penlee House on the Sunday.

Darkroom Experimentation

Students have spent the past few weeks experimenting in the darkroom with traditional photographic techniques.
The slides show an example of some of their photograms created in the darkroom using objects, nature and water.
Next stage is to develop and print from their negatives.
