Truro: City of Light

Over the past month the art & design department has had a guest in its building – a T-Rex lantern for the Truro City of Light parade which took place last night in less than perfect conditions. Heres what lantern  builder extraordinaire Laura Frances Martin had to say –

“What a crazy evening!! We were assembling and fixing last-minute problems (including a dead battery…ahhh!!) in very strong winds, in fact just trying to stop the bits blowing away was a challenge!! Still, I think it all came off in the end and the kids in particular LOVED this lantern!! I had four students from Truro College helping carry, which was fantastic – they went the extra half mile literally and helped carry it back to the workshop at the end of the evening in spite of having to get later buses. What stars. Emma, Freya and two friends whose names I`ve forgotten. Thank you thank you!!  The lantern is now back in the workshop and looking a little the worse for wear… poor thing!

It was brilliant being able to build most of the lantern at Truro College, thank you so much to everyone there for making me feel very welcome and for helping out when needed.”
