Art & Design Saturday Club London Trip 2017

Members of the Truro College Art & Design Saturday Club made their annual pilgrimage to the capital last weekend to make, and see, lots of art.
The students first visited St Martins to do two activities, one centred on drawing buildings and then self-portraits. Following a talk from Lego
Global Head of Environmental Responsibility and Engagement, Cecila Wreckström they then went on to create tracing paper houses which were added to an installation, during this task the students worked with other club members from around the country, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
After lunch they then took a guided tour of the Tate Modern, followed by a visit to see the Master Monoprints at Bankside.
Finally, the students filled up on fast food on their way back to Cornwall, a tired but happy bunch.

This was at the invitation of Groundwork, a three-year project that will bring outstanding international art and artists to Cornwall. The students received a tour of the building then visited artists Nicola Bealing and Ben Sanderson in their studios. Following a delicious lunch provided by Dom, the chef at CAST café, the students engaged in a practical workshop that focused on experimental approaches to drawing.

Elizabeth Loveday Workshop

Former Truro College art student Lizzie Loveday recently ran a workshop for us – she has been made the Liberty Textiles Artist in Focus for their new Haberdashery – with a whole wall in their London store featuring her work! V exciting! Lizzie spent the day working with A-level students helping them produce some lovely work.
Participating student Kieran Roberts said –  “Lizzie was so insightful about pursuing a career within the Arts. She was really encouraging and it was really interesting to hear about her experience of studying Illustration at Art College. I really enjoyed the day and am really pleased with the outcome, I have certainly extended my skills!”
