This one year Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design course provides a range of study for students who have an interest in art and design and who are seriously considering working in the art and design sector, providing preparation for further study, such as a the Extended Diploma Art and Design.
It will develop a broad range of practical art and design skills in drawing and painting, manipulating materials such as clay, metal and wood as well as investigating historical and contemporary art and design.
The student will develop the confidence to make personal creative decisions through a range of vocationally based projects. This involves discovery through the process of making and designing within the context of art and design in the 21st Century.
Level 2 Diploma Design students experience working through projects with a variety of media and materials in the areas of fine art painting and sculpture, design, graphics, ceramics, textiles and printmaking.
The course looks extensively at the potential of technology, tools and equipment using a range of processes and techniques. A full programme of formal and informal visits promotes students to view the work of others.
Functional Skills, learners who need to achieve a qualification in maths and/or English will be supported to do so.
