ceramic cities

Our Saturday clubs latest work has been in ceramics.
This years theme is the `Home` so why not make our own, in the form of a ceramic city!
Renown local sculptor Reece Ingram was on hand as tutor as the students designed and created clay tiles upon which buildings were then sat. These tiles all interlinked once fired to create a fantastic cityscape, pictured below.

Adventures with the Saturday Club

Members of Truro College Saturday Art Club (NADSC) recently went to London for their annual trip.

They all visited Central St Martins where their self portrait work, and work from other clubs from around the country was on show. They also all took part in a joint art activity.

The rest of the day was taken up with a visit to the V & A to view  a special exhibition about the future, and some of the permanent collection.

Next week they we`re back at college, printing tote bags.

We looked at the way textiles are printed by hand in India. Students then made lino blocks of houses or shops to create a repeat pattern, as our theme this year is the urban environment. Then we printed printing the canvas tote bags by various methods with cracking results, as shown below.
