It`s that time of year again when we roll out the newspaper and masking tape. Yep it`s the start of another scholastic year here at the Art & Design department of Truro College, Cornwall.
The first year tutor groups have been getting to know us and one another today through our favourite challenge – build a newspaper tower that will support the weight of an egg. Sounds easy? Well with a bit of team work and masking tape the new students made it look so.
Welcome to another year at college everyone.
Now lets get arty!

Remeber to keep up with what we do here on our blog, or via Twitter and Facebook.

Young students from Fowey spent time experiencing taster sessions at Truro College yesterday.
The during afternoon it was the art & design departments turn to host them, and challenge them. In the able hands of technician Stuart Robinson, they spent the session building newspaper towers, the winners being the team with the tallest free-standing structure, topped with an arty flag.
Next they spent time with head of department Martin Page in the drawing studio. Using charcoal taped to bamboo the drew from observation to create some impressive large scale art work.
The students all got involved and produce some great results as shown in the slideshow.
